About Me

My photo
Welcome to my world, the world of The Domestic Princess. I am a wife and mother of 5 beautiful children. I also have two kittens named Molly and Maisie. We all live together in a surprisingly structured, and very, very happy home. I am totally devoted to my family, I love life and all that it offers. Home decorating, shopping, cooking, eating out, travel, collecting antiques and fine china, ebay, and all things pink and roses……oooh I just love roses ~ these things are all a part of my world. I have teenagers, a toddler and children in between. At the moment, if I am not changing a nappy (while teetering on my ridiculously high heels), I seem to be beside my daughter giving her driving lessons. My life is diverse, never without something happening and amazing. This blog is about me, my life experiences and everything that makes my world, the world of the Domestic Princess………

My baby Princess.....

Over the past week or so, the sun has started to really shine (with exception of the deluge we are experiencing over our Melbourne Cup break!) and it seems as though Summer is just around the corner. My baby Princess hasn't been wearing her tights and is now back into socks or bare little feet on these warmer days.

So now that she has discovered her toes again, it seems to be one of her favourite pastimes to count all of her little fingers and all of her little toes. I absolutely adore listening to her, she can count all the way up to 17 without a problem at all, but she seems to think that 18 is actually "appleteen"! Anyway, she is so precious and so proud of herself, I think she is just totally brilliant for having only just turned 2, but that said no doubt I am horridly biased, for of course, I am her Mummy!!

My newest handbag ~ tote.....

Animal print has been very "in" here this season and I have to say I have purchased a few bits and pieces, over the past few months. This gorgeous handbag/tote is my newest addition and I absolutely love it!! Such a fabulous pattern, and very comfortable and easy to wear. I tend to purchase relatively expensive handbags, and I have to admit that I think I have a bit of an addiction ~ one can never have enough handbags is my view! That said, when I saw this one, I knew it was a fashion must have and it was calling my name LOL! By the "Sassy Duck" brand, it has not disappointed me at all, and to add to it's appeal, it was only $29.95 on sale. It would have been wrong for me to leave such a cute handbag in the store, so now it has a home of it's very own!

A rosie room now complete.....

Just recently my youngest daughter turned 2. So it was time to make her nursery into a "big girl's" room and for her to have her first bed. This antique brass and iron bed was my first bed, purchased from a sweet little antique store in a country town called Rutherglen. It was bright purple when it joined our family, but in no time it had been transformed into it's original colour ~ black. I have always loved it, when my first daughter moved from her cot, she was given this old bed too, then it was handed down to my second daughter. Now, my two older girls each have their own antique beds and it is time for my littlest Princess to be the new owner. I have always loved this bed and it over the years it has had been adorned in many different bedding sets, but each time it has been covered in roses. My old bed, together with my Grandmothers chair and my Grandfathers first chest of drawers, has given my little Princess such a delightful room, full of memories of times and people that I will always cherish. I am enjoying the memories she is creating for us both as she drifts to the land of nod each night in her special sanctuary, that she so happily calls her "big girl" room.........

Cabbage roses......

I just adore this little chair that spends it's time gracing the room of my daughter. My Grandmother purchased this in the late 1960's and it was covered in a lavender fluffy upholstery and the sweet curved metal was painted gold. My Father re-upholstered it for my second daughter around 10 years ago, and now it sits sweetly and proudly in my littlest girls bedroom. I have an absolute passion for cabbage roses and Laura Ashley. I found this gorgeous Laura Ashley print, I think from memory Bunched Roses? which is very similar to my all time favourite Clarissa, recently on a shopping expedition. I purchased the bedding and extra pillow cases, and thankfully one pillow case was enough to cover the whole chair. I am sooooo happy with the end result and the way that it compliments my daughters room. I love it when she climbs on top and seems so happy with her achievement! My daughter is named after my Grandmother, so I guess it is quite fitting that she be the one to have this delightful little chair.

Recently while out for coffee, we came across these very cute take away coffee cups. My husband was able to buy some for me, so that he can make me a take away coffee.

Oooh, I just love my evening coffee!

Finley's Birthday.......

I absolutely love my coffee machine! My wonderful husband makes me either a cafe latte or cappucino every night, after our children got to bed.

Freddo Frog ice cream cake from Cadbury....

Today was my youngest son, Finley's birthday party. His birthday is actually tomorrow, a very unique birthday date ~ 10.10.10! Normally we have birthday parties at different venues, but Finley wanted to have his birthday party at home this year. We had a gorgeous day, everyone had a wonderful time and of all the delicious birthday cakes that I could have made for him, he chose a Freddo Frog ice cream cake, from Cadbury. I guess it was the easy option! I have to say by the time the party was over, and the last little person had been collected by his parents, coffee was the most pressing thing on my agenda! My wonderful Prince Charming (one of the world's best coffee makers) indulged me of one of my favourite drinks, skinny decaf, half strength. He calls it the "why bother" coffee, half strength and no caffeine! For tomorrow, I have baked a decadent chocolate cake that I know will be greatly appreciated by all my family members, celebrating my little darlings birthday........love chocolate cake!

My newest topiary......

This little topiary is my latest creation. I wanted a little something to put on one of my kitchen benches to hide the telephone, answering machine and modem for the computer, the one not so attractive place in the kitchen!! I already had most everything I needed to put it all together, I only needed the actual topiary ball itself, so I purchased that off ebay. After about 5 to 10 minutes of effort, this is the result. I am quite chuffed with it:o)

My first post on my new blog........

Welcome!! I'm so glad that you have dropped by, and that you can take a peek into my world. I love being a stay at home Mum, and spending time with my family and decorating our world with loads of loveliness. I live in Melbourne, Australia, where we seem to often experience four seasons in one day! We are now entering Spring time here, the trees are full of blossoms and the air smells of sunshine. Christmas items are now starting to fill the stores and in the next month or so, excitement will start to spill into our homes, as we decorate for the Christmas holiday season. I'd love it if you would drop back sometime, and join me on my journey into the blogosphere!
